The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has established itself as the
twelfth-largest economy in the world, the largest West Asian
economic power, world's largest oil producer, and a strong and
capable force in international politics, particularly in the Sunni
Islamic world. However, at present it is at crossroads. Should it
continue as a 'kingdom' or usher in the process of inclusive
political representation? This volume answers such questions and
explores how the state is coping with domestic, regional and global
developments to remain relevant in the changing times. It provides
a holistic overview of a slew of economic, political, cultural,
military and security policy measures that have been initiated by
the government. The work also offers a detailed analysis of Saudi
Arabia's relations with three significant powers - USA, China and
India - and how they are evolving under new geopolitical and
geostrategic dynamics. This book will interest strategists,
policymakers, researchers and students of international relations,
geopolitics, political science and political economy as well as the
informed reader.

education. The contents of this book are of use to researchers from
not only scientific background, but also economics and
anthropology. It encourages researchers to conduct research on the
ways to assess and analyse the acceptance of the novel energy forms
among the mass population from a financial and social perspective.
An emergency is always an unforeseen incident and one must be ready
to face this challenge. With this perspective in mind this book has
been written in a very simple manner so that one can identify it,
do something about it, understand what will be done for it in a
hospital and also learn something more if one is interested in it.
This book is one part of ongoing research project of Ericsson AB
together with Blekinge institute of technology on the aspect of
Ericsson Power modules. The aim of this project is to apply signal
processing method on the measured current signal of inductor
component of Ericsson BMR 450 Buck converter by using software
Matlab, the method should be able to remove the noisy part which
exists on the measured signal, so the signal can be undulated
within normal range. A set of solutions have presented in this
report. The solutions include the Analog and discrete filter
design, the algorithm of reconstruct signal, method of finding the
signal slopes and algorithm of finding current average values of
signal, also presented in the last chapter of report. The result of
this book project provides possible valuable reference for other
research part of Power modules and helps the future development
technology of DC/DC converter.
Knowledge is power only when it changes people and then the world.
Life is a game, but not lottery. So a good player is destined to
win. In other words, one must play well in order to win. Once you
have taken the lessons of this course, you as a success warrior
will never get demoralized in life's battlefield. Once successful,
you will always remain unique from then on.
The American choreographer Alonzo King showcases his Lines Ballet
company with three contemporary works - 'Triangle of the

career planning is an important decision in the life of a person.
Individuals vary in productive capacity and utility preferences
therefore all do not evenly fit for each occupational group.
Selection of occupation has a direct bearing on the economic
development of the country as the level of output, national income
and distribution of wealth is decided by the type of occupation
that labor selects. The world of work is like a riddle. It is not
easy for an individual to understand and select the appropriate one
from various occupations. It is necessary for one to have massive
information about real situation in the labor market and labor
market trends. Information that can be helpful in deciding about
occupation includes information about nature of work, personal
interests and attributes, skill requirements, education,
experience, physical working conditions, level of stress, career
advancement opportunities and alternatives available. Current study
has investigated the aspects affecting occupational selection among
age group of 14-65 yeas in Pakistan and also level of gender
segregation in occupations. Further the factors responsible for
this segregation are also worked out.
Fruits and vegetables are important component in agriculture
sector. Production and marketing studies were used to explore the
cost parameters of the production and marketing and understand the
inefficiency during production process and marketing channels. To
observe the inefficiency during production, stochastic frontier
production was used by using the primary data from two Tehsils of
the Sargodha region known as Pakistan's California. It was
concluded that all the input variables was directly related to
technical efficiency except irrigation. Negative sign of the
irrigation showed inverse relationship between irrigation and
technical efficiency due to intercrop irrigation which resulted in
over irrigation. Technical inefficiency model showed a positive
relationship between age of the farmers, years of education and
source of credit (dummy variable) while age-squared is inversely
related to technical inefficiency. The marketing studies showed
that by decreasing the number of the intermediaries in both form
i.e. open and packed, not only the purchased price of the consumer
decreased but also marketing efficiency of the market increased.
The study analyzed the constraints faced by the farmers to rural
credit by utilizing two household level data sets. The first survey
Pakistan Rural Household Survey (PRHS) 2001 was utilized to study
the purpose, source structure and utilization of rural credit and;
the second which covered nearly 160 households from Sargodha
District 2007 was used to calculate the demand and interest rate
function by applying Heckman two stage procedures. The focus of
this study was to find out the affect of credit constraints of
institutional credit on consumption and production pattern of the
rural farm households. After measuring the probability of being
constrained used to study affect on consumption pattern of farmers
who were credit constraint. The frontier production function was
used to study the affect of credit constrained and un-constrained
farmers. The study will help to make the policy makers to make a
well structured policy for the credit-constrained farmers. This
will ultimately used as an instrument to reduce the poverty in
Pakistan. We are highly obliged and indebted to Dr. Sohail J. Malik
for his kindness, willing cooperation, support, and assistance
throughout this work.
Pakistan will soon become water poor country. In many areas,
farmers are pumping ground water faster than nature is replenishing
it, causing a steady drop in water table. Groundwater over-pumping
could now be the single biggest threat to Indus agriculture. Over-
tapped rivers are easy to see and the consequences fairly visible.
Ground water overdraft, though hidden from view, is even more
serious problem. This coupled with global warming will further
exacerbate the issue of water insecurity in Pakistan. The pace of
dam building is slowing down because of the resource constraints;
environmental concerns and regional conflict (hydro-politics). The
surface waters though scarce, if managed properly, could only
ensure the sustainability of agriculture. Now that water is
increasingly scarce, however, raising productivity- getting more
service, satisfaction and benefit out of every liter we remove from
a river (Indus, and other tributaries), lakes, mountain spring, or
under ground aquifer-is the key to meeting future needs of the
country. Thus water productivity-getting more crops per drop seems
to be the agricultural frontier for Indus Basin in the 21st
century.
Financial crisis of 2008, a disastrous consequence of weak
financial sector performance, affected masses of people all over
the globe. This highlighted the significance of financial sector in
every economy all over the world. Financial system works quietly in
the background, yet contributes a lot in economic development
through various channels resulting in employment generation and
poverty reduction. Therefore a developed, dynamic, efficient and
sustainable financial sector works as a pivot for the economic
development of any economy. Over the time Pakistan has passed
through many changes to improve its financial system and related
economic policies. Those in turn have many repercussions on the
economic scene of the country. This book is an effort to provide an
answer to the question that either this financial sector
development has contributed towards economic development of the
country or not? We found working on time series data from 1973 to
2007 related to Pakistan that a developed financial sector blooms
not only in human capacity building but also in economic uplift of
the country through improving investment and trade and lessening
the unemployment rate in the country.
Basic economic problem faced by all developing countries is the
allocation of inherently limited resources to various alternatives
ends. Exploitation of international competitiveness is the most
appropriate criteria to act as guiding factor here. The present
study is aimed at analyzing the agricultural comparative advantage
of Pakistan and its implications for trade development. Four crops
wheat, cotton, rice and sugarcane were selected. Policy Analysis
Matrix (PAM) provides data for measurement of comparative
advantage, competitiveness and policy distortions. Comparative
advantage is being criticized for its "static" nature. Therefore,
"Price Risk Analysis" is also carried out to evaluate alternate
scenarios; utilizing the two softwares i.e. the "Best Fit" and @
Risk 4.5.3. The study would surely help the policy makers to assess
the potential of investing in research and development of
agriculture not only to maintain the current foothold but to
further improve the competitiveness of Pakistan agriculture in
international scenario. This study will also provide researchers
and policy makers with information for formulation of food,
agriculture and trade policies.
Pakistan is considered an outlier as far as poverty dilemma and its
growth links are concerned. This book is finding out the dynamics
of rural poverty and income inequality in Pakistan while assessing
the impact of various factors on poverty status of households along
with estimation of pro-poor growth scenarios across time and
regions. The short term PEGR reveals that agricultural growth is
anti-poor in Pakistan and in all provinces from 1990-91 to 1992-93
and in the subsequent years showed pro-poor growth in rural
Pakistan. The regression model reflects that one percent increase
in average household income reduces poverty by 0.25 percent at
national level. Logit regression revealed that there is great
likehood of low incidence of rural poverty with the increase in
land use intensity, cropping intensity, agricultural growth,
education and number of wage earners in a family. The findings
suggest that the government should focus on poverty equivalent
growth rate in agriculture sector rather than the actual GDP growth
rates. In order to improve PEGR, the poverty alleviation policy
must be in tandem with rationalincome distribution.
The book has been structured into three parts, namely, Analytical
Meditation, The Death of Diseases: Psychological Vaccination,
Communication with the Heart: The Utterances that Provide Energy,
and The Architecture of the Mind: The Psychology of Spirituality.
The entire approach is founded on the concept of the combination of
Analysis (or self-enquiry), Meditation, Self-Hypnosis, and Prayer
and is expected to simultaneously work on the different dimensions
of the mind -emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and behavioral. It
is expected, as hundreds of the author's readers have reported to
have experienced, that the method will work instantly on the mind,
without the reader's having to do any special mental exercise as is
typical of most meditation practices.
